What a wonderfull day we all had at the CNY regatta last Saturday in Darling Harbour. The weather was good, overcast first thing but the sun came out and we were soon reaching for the sunscreen.
It was an early start with 60 races scheduled on the day, we were kept on our toes listening for announcements as the times for our races became
earlier and earlier. When we had our last race we were 2 hours ahead of schedule. We all got to
go home early.
We had 2 Masters Mixed races in the morning. Our times were Heat 1 - 54.29 and Heat 2 - 54.77 and in the afternoon we had 2 Master Womens races. Our times were Heat 1 - 1.01.63 and in Heat 2 - 1.01.64
A big WELL DONE to everyone. Some members had the wonderfull experience of their first CNY Regatta. I think they were surprised how many paddlers and spectators were there.
Darling Harbour was filled with lots of atmosphere, Chinese statues, Chinese Lion Dancers and Drummers etc.
Lesley was our Official on the day, Leonie was our Sweep for all 4 races while Helen drummed 2 races and Sue Martin and Catherine drummed one each.
Thank you to the husbands who looked after the camp when we were racing and also took lots of photos. Also to Anita who joined us and took lots of
photos.
A big THANK YOU to Terry our bus driver who not only got his passengers to and from Sydney safely but also managed to find undercover parking for the bus.
All being well we will be in more categories which will mean more races next
year. Although it was nice to have time to roam around and enjoy the atmosphere!
